Do you have a flat or low slope roof you would like to cook out on? People used to build wood decks on top of built-up roofs, E.P.D.M. (rubber) roofs, TPO membrane roofs, modified bitumen roofs, and even shingle roofs. These methods do work but are expensive and are difficult to deal with in cases where leaks pop up after installation.
To find and repair a leak, one must remove parts of the wood deck. This takes time and money. Also, puddles, moisture, and ponding water under the deck on top of the roof can cause fungus and vegetation growth which can damage the roof and deck. Never trap moisture!
An alternative to this old method is to install a walkable vinyl membrane roof system. The brand I recommend and have used for many years is Dec-k-...

Single-ply roof systems include TPO, P.V.C., E.P.D.M. and some modified bitumen assemblies. TPO or thermo-polyolifin is currently driving the flat or low slope roof market and is used on residential, commercial and industrial applications. Because of its lite weight, hot air welded seams, and competitive price many roof consultants consider it to be a great value compared to other roof system options. It comes in 45, 60, 80 mil (.045 ,.060,.080) thicknesses and also comes in a fleece back option. A mil is equal to 1/1000 of an inch. It can be mechanically fastened or fully adhered. It is reinforced for durability. It is white in color and can be bought gray or tan as well. Many consumers believe a white roof is best because it reflects sunl...

When getting a new or replacement roof on your home or business there are a few simple facts to remember.
All roofing contractors are not the same. The right company will install it to perform better and last longer. The materials must be installed the way the manufacturer specifies because they engineered them. Check the roofing contractor out before you hire them. Make sure they have a good, long reputation for quality.
All shingle types and manufacturers are not the same either. See consumer reports and look around online before you buy. I recommend Tamko manufacturer for quality and service and warranty the most. There are many other manufacturers that also really good, GAF, CertainTeed, etc.
They look great and perform well with a 130 m...

A storm is about to blow through. High winds and heavy rains have been reported and begin to pound your neighborhood. During the storm, you notice a damp spot forming on your ceiling. Although there was a calmer rain a few days ago, this particular storm has caused a leak to appear in your ceiling. Why now?
Often, customers will contact our office to report leaks that have manifested themselves after a storm with wind driven, or driving, rains. We hear that an area of the roof or ceiling leaks, but not consistently with every rain.
Rain that has been propelled by wind, often blowing horizontally, can create water intrusion in ways that may not have been possible if wind was not in the equation.
Wind driven rain can make its way...

A COLLAPSING ROOF-The previous contractor failed to install joist hangers to the main carrying beam when the joists were attached. Over time, the weight of the roofing and paver systems above caused the joists to sink over an inch and the roof to bow in the middle. This roof was in danger of collapsing into the living space below.

Roofing Mistakes
Customer's entire plywood roofing deck needed to be removed and replaced when the contractor installing the insulation attached it directly to the rafters without a ventilation space between the insulation and the plywood. Condensation took its toll.
Make sure contractors are properly educated and trained before hiring them and save a lot of problems in the future.

Our goal is to secure your first line of defense when it comes to the elements. Water, in whatever form, (rain, snow, sleet, or hail), has a way of penetrating any weaknesses in a roofing system. It is our goal to not only install roofs that will stand up to the wear and tear that the weather brings year after year in the Dallas - Fort Worth Area, but to also assist when water intrusions occur.
While many roofs leaks are simple to repair, determining the source of the leak is often the more difficult task. When customers identify a drip in their ceiling, they often assume that the leak is originating above the leakage point, however, a leak can be traveling down a rafter or can even be the accumulation of condensation. For example, it is com...
